Georgia O'Keeffe Biography:
Georgia Totto O'Keeffe was born in a farmhouse on a large dairy farm outside of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin on November 15, 1887. Her education, unusual for women of her day, and work took her to many states including Virginia, Illinois, New York, South Carolina, Texas, and New Mexico. Her first solo show was in 1917. She said of her floral paintings, "Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not." Due to failing eyesight, O'Keeffe would for the most part stop painting in 1972. Georgia O'Keeffe would die at age 98 in March of 1986. She was one of the premier artists of the 20th century.
