May designs new House Beautiful home line

May Department Stores Co. is designing a new line of home goods with the House Beautiful label, the company said Thursday.

House Beautiful magazine is published by a unit of the Hearst Corp.

The House Beautiful Home Collection of home accessories and textiles will launch in August. It will only be available at stores operated by May, the company said in a release.

Included will be bed linens, dinnerware and towels, in 32 custom-developed colors, the retailer said.

May said it is designing the line in partnership with Hearst Brand Development's design professionals and with the expertise of House Beautiful magazine's editorial staff, in response to House Beautiful magazine readers' interest in learning how to decorate with confidence. The collection's packaging offers paint-style color chips and step-by-step decorating ideas.

Terms of May's agreement with Hearst were not disclosed.

The line will be "at an affordable price point," according to Carol Williams, president of May Department Stores International, in a statement. More…
