Choosing Interior Paint Colors – Start Being Bold!

We were at a friend’s home the other day and my wife said, “Did you notice the paint color in their bedroom?” Although I had walked through their bed room, I had not noticed the paint color as I was on a “mission.” The room had been aqua and relates to the article below.

In the '80s, the watchword was white. It started with walls and carpet and slowly seeped down to the baseboards, onto the doors, up to the window casings.

By the time the shabby chic craze hit in the '90s, it seemed the last vestiges of real color vanished under a coat of whitewash. The world became a bleak snowdrift of near white-out conditions.

But color slowly has been making a comeback, starting with light browns and beiges and moving through the spectrum.

Now we're not just seeing timid pastels or safely muted tones. Rooms are becoming burnished with bold and bright hues that are almost a backlash to the chromatically deprived past.

"The days of white walls are gone. You won't see that back for a very long time," said designer Natalie Craig, who turned her own Wikiup, Calif., home into a tropical reef of extreme color, with chartreuse, cobalt, peacock blues, violets, purples and periwinkles. More…
