We don’t always get to hear what prompts someone’s creation. With poems, it’s special to hear the poet’s circumstances surrounding a certain poem. It’s the same thing with a painting. Paintings do speak to us without the help of anyone. The message may vary according to the viewer. When we can hear the story surrounding the production of a painting, a famous painting at that, it gives us a whole new appreciation of the art and artist.
