Jack Vettriano is a Scottish born painter who trained as a mining engineer. As you might have noticed, he doesn’t have a Scottish sounding name at all. Actually he is the son of an Italian mother whose last name he uses.
Many Jack Vettriano prints seem to take the viewer back in time. The hats, suspenders, the attire of the men and women and perhaps the colors he chooses seem to harken back to a bygone era. Vettriano’s popularity surged after his first U.S. exhibit in 1999 in New York. His paintings which have gained tremendous commercial success – the envy of any artist – also have a romantic, even sensual air about them. They are a favorite with decorators in the U.S. and Britain.
Choosing Jack Vettriano prints can bring a warmth and romanticism to your space. One of his most popular pieces is The Singing Butler featuring a dancing couple on, what looks like, a windy beach accompanied by two people holding umbrellas…one of them presumably the butler.
Another popular Jack Vettriano print, Dance Me to the End of Love, captures the transcendent connection between ritual and courtship. The artist's otherworldly scene magnifies the valor and romance that dancing evokes.
