Artist, Cheri Blum, believed that we “should be able to surround ourselves with beautiful are in our homes and offices, not just when we visit museums and galleries.” Her identifying characteristic was her love of things with a sense of age and history, of beauty in the not-so-perfect.
Cheri Blum’s work tied together art and interior decorating. Her art appeared on wallpaper and on gift wrap as well as art prints. Creating her work near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, Cheri Blum’s art graced furniture finishes, dinnerware, wallpaper, bed linens, curtains, towels, and bathroom accessories.
Her work is described as evoking tranquility to the space it adorns. She is known for her nature and floral themes some of which she painted on cracked linen for the look of age and history. Some examples are her “Pale Pink Rose on Antique Linen” and “Forget Me Not.”
Cheri Blum died suddenly late in 2003 leaving her art in the form of art prints and decorating items as legacies.
