What if you’ve got no windows, small windows or windows that don’t provide much light? If you’ve got the wall space, imagine an art print or mirror in that space. To create a sense of greater space and more light in a room, use art that takes the eye beyond the confines of the room and into the art. Using art or a mirror in place of a window is one of the decorator’s most reliable techniques for creating a feeling of greater space and more light.
Images of beaches, courtyards, fields of flowers, and bodies of water suggest an expansive view just outside the window of their frame. Abstract art can also create a feeling of warmth and space if you choose a bright palette and a simple composition.
Take Daniel Pollera’s Serenity or Coastal Harmony as examples. Both of these art prints provide plenty of light and metaphorically pull you through the painting into a much larger and airy space. Summer Breeze by Alice Dalton Brown does the same.
Browse through some of the other art prints which give you a sense of brightness and spaciousness.
